One final note for this week: The squadron has been packed up for the year in order to make room for summer camp to utilize the space in Birchall.  This unfortunately means we no longer have reliable access to our phones.  Until we start up again in September the easiest way of getting a hold of us is through social media or email (517fltgraham at gmail dot com).

Personal Items Left at Birchall

Please note that all personal items left at Birchall MUST be picked up no later then tomorrow evening.  The squadron will be open from 1800-2100.  After that we can’t guarantee that you will be able to retrieve your items since everything will be packed away in preparation for summer camp.

If there are any issues, please let us know.

Decoration of the Graves – Reminder

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow evening is the Decoration of the Graves in Middleton.  This is a mandatory parade for all cadets and you can find out more about the significance of the parade here.  Cadets are expected to be in full dress uniform with medals and to arrive at the Middleton DMV parking lot (see map below) for 1800.  The parade will begin at 1900.  This is another relatively quick parade so parents are encouraged to stay and leave once your cadet is finished.  Capt Bourque, Capt Bull and Lt Gilbert will be the staff on ground for this event.

Request for Volunteers – Update

Thank you to everyone who responded so quickly and offered your time for this event.  We have enough interest that this activity is confirmed.  I do however need a few more volunteers:

Friday, June 24th

  • 1530-1930: 2 more cadets
  • 1930-2300: 2 more cadets

Saturday, June 25th

  • 1700-2000: 2 more cadets
  • 2000-2300: 1 more cadet

On the Friday, parents can expect to drop off their cadets with Capt Bourque and Saturday with Captain Bull.  Everyone will be in summer dress.  If there are any more questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Request for Volunteers

Good evening,

An opportunity has come up to help support the 75th Anniversary on 14 Wing.  We have been asked to help work the coat check at the Annapolis Mess on June 24th and 25th.  There will be 4 shifts in total of four cadets each and we need to know by tomorrow morning whether or not we are able to fill these spots.  If you are able to volunteer for multiple shifts that’s even better.  The shifts are as follows:

Friday, June 24th

  • 1530-1930
  • 1930-2300

Saturday, June 25th

  • 1700-2000
  • 2000-2300

Please let us know ASAP if you are available by sending us a quick message with your availability through Facebook or email.

***Parents, please be advised that while there will be alcohol served at this event, the cadets will be away from the licensed area with a 517 staff member.***

Events for June

Now that ACR is finished there are just a few more events to take note of before we break for the summer.

Wednesday, June 8th – Change of Command Parade.  This is a mandatory parade for all cadets where Maj Dupuis will step down as CO of the unit and Capt Bourque takes over.  Cadets are expected to arrive in full dress uniform with medals for 1800 at the paprade square (same place as ACR).  They will march on for 1830 and the reviewing officer will arrive at 1900.  This parade will be considerably shorter than ACR so we encourage parents to watch the parade and then are free to leave around 2000 once the parade square is tidied.

Sunday, June 12th – Decoration of the Graves.

Wednesday, June 15th – Pack Up the Squadron from 1800-2100. This is mandatory for FSgt’s and above plus ALL staff.  The squadron needs to be packed up for the summer.  As well, all personal items that staff or instructors have stored at the unit MUST be taken home as of the 15th.

Wednesday, June 22nd – Summer Camp Meeting from 1800-2000.  This is for all parents of cadets who have been confirmed for camp this summer.  The meeting will be held upstairs at Birchall in classrooms 9 & 10.
