  • Staff meeting at Birchall (upstairs) from 1800-1900

Wednesday, May 3rd – CO’s Parade

  • 1815 – 2115 at the Morfee Center
  • Cadets are to wear C-1 dress (Link for orders of dress). If you do not have a uniform we encourage cadets to wear black pants and a white collared shirt.
  • Parents are welcome to attend as CO’s Parades are when we do promotions and other significant announcements or awards
  • If you have not passed in your wake-a-thon money please ensure you bring on Wednesday. There will be a prize for the cadet who has raised the most money!!!!

Thursday, May 4th

  • Biathlon Practice will be from 1800-1900 at Birchall

May 5-7

  • Tac Eval !
  • Seniors and staff will be heading up after dinner on Friday, timings will be confirmed on Wednesday
  • The rest of the squadron will depart on Saturday at 0630 from Birchall
  • Pick up Sunday at 1630 at Birchall 
  • Please ensure you have rain gear!!!

Tac Eval Kit List

Please see the Tac Eval kit list below. Please note cadets are not permitted to bring their own knives and hatchets. These will be supplied by the unit. Please ensure you do not have any knives on your person on arrival. If there are non clothing items you do not have we should have extra. Thank you.

Monday, April 24th

  • Band 1800-2000 (Morfee)

Wednesday, April 26th – Sports Night

  • 1815 – 2115 at Morfee
  • Only Warrant Officers should be arriving prior to 1815
  • Please wear appropriate sports attire and bring a water bottle to keep hydrated! Also please bring any medications you may require when participating in physical fitness activities such as prescribed inhalers etc.
  • There will be a parents meeting held in the upstairs classroom at Birchall from 1900-2000. Any questions/concerns regarding our overnight activities such as wake-a-thon and Tac Eval will be addressed.
  • Those interested in donating baked goods for the fundraiser, items will be picked up at 1830 at Morfee, see more information below under notices.

Saturday, April 29th

  • Wake-a-thon
  • Please remember to bring your permission slips and completed sponsor sheets and money.
  • There will be fun activities planned throughout the night such as swimming, movie at the Zedex and much more. 
  • Wake-a-thon theme: It’s Slumberless Party! Please feel free to support the theme by wearing appropriate PJ’s. Pants should be long, NO shorts, PJ’s, sleep pants/top, T-shirt, sweater etc. and track pants and are acceptable. Along with Onesies of course!!
  • We will be asking each level to bring a snack:
  • Level 1 – Chips
  • Level 2 – Pop or juice
  • Level 3 – Fruit 
  • Level 4 – Veggies
  • Seniors – Desserts
  • Staff – Cutlery, Napkins etc 
  • Activities: Swimming 8:30- 10pm, Please bring a bathing suit, towel, shampoo and soap for showering. Goggles are allowed, Cadets may wear a T-shirt over their swim suits. Both pools will be open as will the slide. All cadets must shower before entering the pool.

We are checking to see if any members of 517 Sqn (Staff, Cadets, Parents) would be willing to donate baked goods (cookies, buns, cakes, pies, etc) to 107 Wing for our upcoming bake good auction. This is one of our fund raisers that generate money towards our Air Cadet sponsorship.

The date of the auction is 26 Apr 2017 following our elections @ approximately 2030 hrs (8:30 pm).

Any donations will be picked up by me at the beginning of the Weds night cadet training session on the 26th of Apr at 1830 hrs.

Aurora Cup Information

Please find information in regards to the Aurora Cup Competition this coming weekend 07-09 April 2017 below:

  1. Cadets can be dropped off on Friday 07 April 2017 at 2030 in civilian attire along with their kit at the Summer Training Center Cadet trailers with the exception of the Drill Team.
  2. The Drill team will meet at Birchall with their kit from 1800-2000 and the will join the remainder of the Squadron afterwards.
  3. Cadets will be participating in a number of activities over the weekend please bring appropriate civilian attire for these activities and dress for the weather as we will be travelling on foot to various other buildings to compete and the mess hall for meals.
  4. Cadets are required to arrive with their full C-1 uniform already pressed, polished and badges sewn on. Please refer to the kit list below.
  5. Cadets can be picked up on Sunday 09 April 2017 at 1500-1515 at the drop off location (Summer Training Center Cadet trailers).
  6. Please note that items brought to this weekend are the responsibility of the cadet so please use discretion if bringing any expensive items, electronics or money.
  7. Cadets that have signed up for the competition and teams can be found in the previous post (Link to post)

KIT LIST

  1. Towel, shower shoes & toiletries (shampoo, soap etc.)
  2.  Indoor sneakers. Shoes worn outside are not permitted to be worn in the gym
  3. Appropriate gym clothing (t-shirts, shorts, sweat pants, etc.)
  4. Appropriate civilian attire for the evenings
  5. Combination lock for the barracks
  6. Cadet MUST have a jacket and outside shoes/boots (we will be outside)
  7. Reusable water bottle with their name on it
  8. Bedding will be provided
