Monday October 16th

Band 6pm-8pm at Morfee in the Gym
Everyone including new cadets are welcome to join our brass and reed marching band. Please bring your instrument and comfortable shoes for drill. All levels are accepted, if you can’t read music we’ll teach you!

Flag Party 6pm-7pm at Morfee in the Gym
This is open to everyone including new cadets. The flag party has the honour of carrying our flags and drill purpose rifles during all of our parades.

Drill Team 8pm-9pm at Morfee in the Gym
Open to everyone including new cadets. A great chance to work on your drill as a team and compete against other units during our inter-squadron competition in the spring.

Tuesday October 17th
Flying Scholarship 6pm-9pm at Birchall
This is open to all cadets aged 15 and older who are interested in writing the Glider or Power Scholarship exams in order to get their license next summer.

Wednesday October 18th
Regular Training night in summer dress. (Level 1-4 will wear C-4A and Level 5 will wear C-2B. All new cadets will be requested to wear a white dress shirt with black dress pants until they have their uniforms.)There will also be a parent meeting from 7-8pm with the CO for those that would like to attend.
Please hand in all annual validation forms to admin. If you haven’t received one yet, please also speak to admin so that we can update your file for the year.

Thursday October 19th

Biathlon at Birchall 6pm-7pm
Anyone interested in learning about biathlon is encouraged to attend, this includes new cadets.

Saturday October 21st

Range Team 9am-12pm at the gym in Morfee
This is only open to cadets who have completed successfully the in class portion of rifle training and have successfully shot independently before.

There will be a Corn Maze activity from 1-3pm for those that are interested at Evan’s Family Farm Market in Wilmot.  Parents will need to provide transportation.  A hotdog and drink will be provided.

Things to Note:

Wednesday October 25th will be glow in the dark bowling at the 14 Wing Bowling Alley from 6:30-9pm.  There is no cost.  There will also be a Halloween costume contest with prizes for the best costume.

For the weekends of October 27-29 and November 3-5 the squadron will be assisting the Kingston Legion with local poppy sales in preparation for Remembrance Day.  Signups for the event will being this week with more details to follow.

New cadets MUST have all their initial paperwork completed including photocopies of their documents handed in BEFORE they can attend any extra activities.

Morfee Building is located on School Rd and is the same building as the Greenwood MFRC.

This is only open to cadets who have completed successfully the in class portion of rifle training and have successfully shot independently before. There will be dates in the near future for newer cadets to try out for the range team.

Cadets will have to arrive at 1830. Dress is C-1. We did have more than 6 cadets sign up, thank you all for the interest and willingness to help out.

Juniors weekend 9-4. Saturday will be at the morphee centre for range. Please wear comfortable clothing. Sunday will be community service. Lunch will be provided for both days.

CO’s parade at the morphee gym. Cadets are to arrive at 1815; only flight commanders and above should be arriving before 1815. Parents are more than welcome to come attend the parade at 1900hrs. Cadets are to be dressed in 1A (dress shirt, tie, tunic). All new cadets will be requested to wear a white dress shirt with black dress pants until they have their uniforms.)

There will be sign ups for the 107 Valley Wing Dinner and the Junior’s weekend (level 1 and 2) available at break.

All NCO’s selected as Flight Staff are asked to arrive early at 6pm in order to get properly briefed on their new roles in the squadron moving forward.

Parent meeting with the CO is from 7pm-8pm. She will make herself available after the meeting to answer any questions you may have.

Fall Gliding Day
This will be a full day of gliding where priority will be given to newer cadets. Sign ups have been ongoing and the finalized list with timings will be posted later this week.

– Battle of Britain Parade – Sunday, Sept 17th, 2017

Cadets are to arrive no later than 1315hrs at RCAF Valley Wing 107.

The dress will be full uniform: tunic, ties with medals.  For any cadets that do not have a uniform or are missing parts, please wear black pants and a white shirt.

– Level 5 Workshop: Level 5 Regional Workshop:

When: Sept 22-24
Where: Aldershot (cadets must be transported by their parents. If this is a problem, and you would like to participate please inform Lt Roberts).
What: A regional Level 5 Workshop with senior cadets from all 3 elements in the Greenwood Zone. This can be completed at any point during a cadets Level 5 program. This means that if a cadet cannot attend this year and they have another year in the program, they can wait and attend next year.
Who: Level 5 cadets that have not previously attended a Level 5 Regional Workshop. This is NOT what the cadets attended Sept 2-3 at Birchall.
Confirmation of attendance needs to be given to Lt Roberts NLT 1800 hrs 11 Sept along with any dietary needs.
More information will be given after all members have been confirmed.
– Oct 1st: fall gliding. This is a opportunity for cadets to experience a flight in a glider. Stay tuned for sign ups.

Things to note: This week all senior position application are due this Wednesday. Orienteering signups are also due. Both can be submitted to Lt Roberts in the training office.ek

Notices 

The Kingston Lions Club is hosting a public speaking competition on December 5th and have invited our unit to send a competitor. Cadets that are interested must be in grades 9-12, and be able to prepare a 5 minute speech. Cadets interested must submit their name NLT Wed Nov 23.

  • This is a mandatory weekend. Level 3s will be completing leadership classes. Level 4s will be completing their 409 PC (Instruct a 30-minute lesson) as well as some leadership. They will also have the opportunity to re-test for level 3 PCs that were incomplete last year.
  • Drop off is at 1730 hrs Friday at Birchall where we will have kit checks and then bus to Camp Aldershot. Pick up is at 1630 hrs Sunday at Birchall.

November 19th 

  • Biathlon zones
  • This is only for the competition team that has been announced and discussed with those that come out to practices.
  • Transportation will be provided. Lunch will be provided. We’re look at a 0700-0730 departure time and this will be finalized at Thursdays practice.

Friday, November 11th 

  • Cadets are required to participate in a Remembrance Day Ceremony. Our “home ceremony” is Kingston, though cadets closer to Middleton may attend there as well. If cadets will be attending a ceremony other than those two, they will need to submit a note to their chain of command as soon as possible.
  • This is a mandatory event for all cadets.
  • More details will come regarding timings and locations.
