Air Cadet League Tickets

Cadets have been given the annual Air Cadet League Fundraising tickets.

Each cadet was given 1 book. They are asked to please sell that 1 book.

This fundraiser is one of important ways to keep Air Cadets free to our children. Each booklet of tickets has 10 tickets at $2 a ticket….meaning they are valued at $20 a book. If you are able to sell more then one book please contact CV Reinhart and we can make a plan for your child to receive a 2nd. But we have Limited extra books.

For any child who was absent on Wednesday I will be present next Wednesday to hand out the rest. We do ask for families to do your best to sell them over the next 2-3 weeks. Please send back all sold (and unsold) tickets and the money (enveloped) with your child on Wednesday Jan 30 or Wednesday Feb 6.

If you are having difficulty please check in with me as we may have families wanting more tickets. As a Squadron they would love to see most of the tickets sold. The prizes are fantastic:
1. First Prize $2000 Sobeys card
2. Second Prize $1000 Irving Card
3. Third Prize $500 Walmart Card

Thank you. If you have any questions please me and I will do my best to help you.

Some incentives to sell the 1 book of Air Cadet tickets…
#1. $12 from every book stays within the Squadron.
#2. The Cadet who sells to Prize winner #1 (Sobeys) gets $100.
#3. The Cadet who sells to Prize winner #2 (Irving) gets $50.
#4. The Cadet who sells to Prize winner #3 (Walmart) gets $50.

BE SURE TO PUT YOUR NAME AND SQUADRON NUMBER ON THE BACK OF EACH TICKET YOU SELL SO THEY KNOW WHO SOLD IT TO BE ABLE TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE

Summer Training Applications

Summer Training Application Process

  1. All cadets are asked to look at the summer training opportunities available to them (here and here) and decide whether they are interested in applying.
  2. They are then to pick up a “Summer Training Application” from the Administration office or print at home (here).
  3. They are then to fill out the application and discuss with their parents/guardians their choices. There is no parental signature or formal approval required for the application process.
  4. Depending on what courses the cadets are applying for the forms will be due to Lt(N) Kerfont directly by January 30, 2019 (this date is approximate and may change once we get more concrete information). This allows us time to gather any extra required documents.
  5. Cadets may submit late applications however we make no guarantees that their application will be processed and submitted on time.

After Submission

  1. When forms are submitted they will be reviewed by Lt(N) Kerfont to ensure they are complete and correct.
  2. As we have to rank our cadets in order of priority, there will be a priority matrix used to determine the ranking of the cadets This matrix takes into account things such as attendance, participation in mandatory activities, participation in optional activities, previous camp experiences, and whether there has been any formal disciplinary action taken in the year.
  3. After that information is filled out, we will send off the applications electronically.
  4. Applications are then processed at the regional level and we are informed of who was accepted to summer training.

Notes

  • Hard copies of application will be available Wednesday. Camp info linked in the message above will be posted in the common area.
  • We do not pick the cadets, but we do make recommendations.
  • We have the right to NOT recommend cadets if we do not feel that they will not succeed at the course, their behaviour or commitment is not sufficient or their application was incomplete.
